This guide is for iFlash users to report working or not CF cards.
Required information – manufacturer, model, capacity, and your experience with the card. Also your iPod model/version.
Example: AXTREMEX UDMA 600x 128GB – works fine.
Thank you in advance.

Installed iflash dual with a single Samsung 64gb sd card installed. No issues.
Card used:
Samsung 64GB EVO SDXC UHS 1 – Class 10 Memory Card (MB-SP64D/AM)
KomputerBay 32GB 266x did not work in my iPod Video – stuck in restore loop forever. A SanDisk Ultra II 8GB works very well.
Slightly away from the classics. But 128gb qumox sdxc and the iflash sd to cf adapter works a treat in my second gen iPod mini. Easy mod and solid as a rock. Good battery life in the second gen as well.
One that did not work for me, sadly, was SanDisk SDSDQUA-128G-U46A Mobile Ultra microSDXC UHS-I Class 10. Swapped it out for an older SanDisk Mobile Ultra microSDXC 64 GB UHS-I Class 10 (SDSDQU-032G-U46A) which does work fine (same iPod, iFlash and SD adaptors, I only swapped the SD).
Samsung 128GB EVO Micro SD Memory Card Class 10 working fine in 5th Gen 30gb Video
i can conirm the 128GB Qumox Card from the list, just isntalled 2 of those 🙂
Thanks by the way for the Adaptors, Tarkan! 🙂
I purchased the iFlash-Bundle, Installed it in my Ipod Classic 160GB 7th Generation Model # PC293LL with a Lexar Professional 400x 64GB SDXC UHS-I Flash Memory Card. The unit is up and running. Thanks. mrh.
So i got this Card now
http://www.amazon.de/Komputerbay-Speed-Compact-Flash-Schreiben/dp/B009QXFSLI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1436341970&sr=8-1&keywords=komputerbay+64gb+cf
Komputerbay 64gb 233x cf
I got it into my Ipod 5.5. Turning it on results to the “pls connect to itunes” message.
So i connect it to itunes and try to restore it. The Computer loads the Software and before finishing i get the itunes error 1529.
If I start up disk utiliy , while my ipod is connected, i get the info that there is a 64gb card installed with no partition.
With the ipod connected i can’t partition the card.
Whats the point here? The Card is recognized by the Ipod but I can’t restore. Is there a way getting this to work?
I’m not sure if the Card is faulty, or something else.
I have only Mac computers.
Its kind of a never ending story which annoys me.
If you have a CF card reader, I would confirm the CF card is working ok.
Another thing worth trying is connect the iPod while it is in Diskmode – and see if you can format/read/write using the disk utility on your computer.
do you have any other CF cards you can try – anything above 512Mb will do for the iPod video.
Hi Tarkan,
would that combination work with IPOD5.5/Rockbox?

@Mario – I am going say that microSDXC card is fake – The largest microSDXC card is 200Gb (currently).
MicroSDXC will work fine in the iFlash-bundle, I use a few microSD 64Gb cards for testing myself.
Thanks, Tarkan. If I decided to buy it, and it works, I would definitely report about it.
Hi Tarkan,
I was wondering if the SanDisk Ultra 50mb/s CF Card would work on the 7.5g iPod classic (slim 160gb) as the card was the only one available in stores near me.
Thanks and have a great day.
@Vincent – it will probably be ok, but it is a card that has not been reported about before.
I installed a Komputerbay Professional 128 GB 600X, 90 MB/s UDMA CF card on a “thick” 160GB Ipod Classic (MB145ZP) and after the second restoring attempt it works.
Hi Tarkan,
As an alternative to the mSATA drives to improve battery life, do you think the new SanDisk Extreme PRO 512GB SDXC would work OK in a 6g or 7G?
Cheers,
Jonathon
Two people are using the 512Gb Sandisk so far, with no problems – was waiting on more confirmations before add it to the compatability list – it is a very expensive card so not many people will be thinking about it yet!!
Hi Tarkan!
Just received an iFlash adapter. The only problem is the CF Card. I would like to have 64 GB CF Card, but I’m not sure, which one works better in my iPod Video 30 GB 5th Gen. Is this card compatible with my iPod 5g?

Thanks in advance!
@Hejsan – The Lexar will work ok in the 5g and 6g/7g iPods – make sure your iPod is not a 5.5g which do not work with Lexar UDMA7 CF cards.
I tried two cards with no luck.
There was the Kingston CF/64GB-U2 CompactFlash-Karte Ultimate 266x – on the iPod 5.5, which gives an iTunes error when trying to restore the firmware on the card.
I also tried a Transcend 32gb 133x that results in the same error.
So what card from 64-128gb can i pick up at amazon in europe that would work?
greets
The 5.5g is a hard one to find a CF card for, you can try the NOS 64Gb.
You should also check that the iPod can read/write to the Cf card ok by connecting to the computer in disk mode, this will confirm you have the iFlash installation is ok.
Hi,
I’m buying the Cf adapter for upgrade my iPod mb565 120gb 7gen.
I’m going to buy a new compact flash from Amazon. Someone have tried one of this CF on the same gen iPod?

Let me know! Thanks for the answer and Tarkan, thank you so much for the upgraded!
@Vincenzo – you should be ok with either the iPod Classics work ok with the newer UDMA CF cards.
I did send you an email suggesting the iFlash-bundle instead – you can pickup a 128Gb SDXC (e.g. Qumox) for Euro 35, much much cheaper than a 128Gb CF card.
Hi Tarkan,
Did you send me an email? I don’t receive nothing. I’m looking on amazon for the sdxc card and yes! These are much much cheaper than the CF. I read the article about consumption and when I read this:
“Compared to the CF in music playback the SDXC suffers a 20% decrease, and the SDHC a 10% decrease in runtime. For Video, the CF is about the same as the SDHC but the SDXC see a 5% decrease in runtime.”
I decide to buy a CF. 20% less of power is more, but nothing compared to the hdd.
So now last question is about the life of an sdxc. How many complete cycle they do? How long it lasts? After this all my doubt gone cleared!
Thanks for the future answers.
Vin’
Yes, check your spam or junk folder.
You only cause wear on the SD or CF card when writing, you can read forever!! For a 128Gb SDXC card I would have thought it would survive at least 2Tb of writes. The life of a SDXC card will not be different to the life of a CF card, they both have similiar write cycles.
I tried to use the Kingston Ultimate 266x 64GB off of this list in my 5th generation iPod and it only allowed me to copy files onto it once. Anything else copied over would be reported there by iTunes, but not actually be on the card when the iPod was ejected. Occasionally, the iPod would skip through every song present on the card, and sometimes lock up all together. Seems like the compatibility of this card needs to be noted that it doesn’t work with 5th gen.
I’m really having a heck of a time finding a 64gb card that works with 5th gen. Any suggestions? Anyone actually gotten a 64gb working with a 5th gen? I really don’t want to have to return another CF card if at all avoidable.
